Tamarac, FL Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

City Code Sec. 14-30 defines a 'recreational vehicle' in subsection (a)(4) as a portable, chassis-built structure designed as a temporary dwelling for travel, camping or vacation, whether motorized or towed, and treats boats and boat trailers of any size the same way under subsection (a)(1). Subsection (b)(2) then carves the one exception to the general 9:00 p.m.-to-6:00 a.m. residential parking ban described in subsection (b): a property may keep a maximum of one recreational vehicle, one boat, and one boat trailer, each under 10 feet in height, provided it sits within an enclosed garage or carport screened from any abutting side street, or in a fenced area set back at least 25 feet from any public right-of-way and completely screened from view of the street and any adjoining residential property by landscaping and opaque fencing.

That exception does not waive any separate setback requirement elsewhere in the Land Development Code; anyone relying on it must still comply with every other applicable ordinance. Subsection (b)(6) adds a further allowance: an RV or mobile home may sit in an otherwise prohibited spot for up to 48 additional hours beyond the standard 24-hour loading grace period if the owner contacts the Tamarac Police Department in advance and, when asked, submits documentation showing the extra time is genuinely for loading or unloading. Community Development is notified in writing whenever a multi-family property designates a special screened parking area for these vehicles under subsection (b)(4).
