Code of Ordinances sec. 26-131 bans parking any house trailer, bus, recreational vehicle unit, or truck tractor in any public place within the city's beach area, except in posted authorized lots. On residential lots, ULDR sec. 47-34.4 bars boats, boat trailers, and recreational vehicles over 35 feet on RS-4.4 property and requires nighttime screening of stored vehicles.
Two codes govern recreational vehicles and boats. Code of Ordinances Section 26-131 ('House trailers, buses, recreational vehicles and truck tractors-In beach area'), as amended by Ordinance C-14-50, prohibits parking any house trailer, bus, recreational vehicle unit, or truck tractor (with or without a trailer) in any public place within the defined 'beach area' (bounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, the city's northern limit, and Port Everglades Inlet), except in city-posted authorized parking areas. A 'recreational vehicle unit' means any vehicle designed or primarily used for recreational, camping, or travel use as temporary living or sleeping quarters; ordinary vans and pickups are excluded unless equipped for living/sleeping. For private property, the Unified Land Development Regulations (ULDR) sec. 47-34.4 prohibit parking or storing recreational vehicles, boats, boats on trailers, and boat trailers on residentially zoned property between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. unless inside an enclosed garage/carport or screened from view by landscaping or fencing, and it caps such vehicles at 35 feet on RS-4.4 zoned lots. Section 26-131.1 separately limits boat-trailer length at the Cox's Landing 15th Street Boat Launch.
Beach-area RV/trailer parking violations carry a fine of up to $100.00 under Code sec. 26-131(d) and sec. 26-91(a)(24). Boat-trailer length violations at Cox's Landing are $100.00 (sec. 26-91(a)(25)). ULDR sec. 47-34.4 violations on residential property are enforced by the city's code enforcement/zoning officers under ULDR Article X.
