Wylie, TX Animal Ordinances: Wildlife Feeding (2026)

The rule sits in chapter 78's park regulations, Division 1, alongside the broader list of prohibited park acts in Sec. 78-110. Sec. 78-103 is a single-sentence prohibition on feeding any wildlife in a city park, recreation or community center facility, with a narrow carve-out for feeding breads, fruits, vegetables and nuts to birds and squirrels. That exception is deliberately limited: it names only two species and four food types, so feeding deer, geese, coyotes, waterfowl generally, or feeding any wildlife food scraps, pet food, or other items outside that list remains an offense anywhere on city park, recreation or community center property.

The section has carried the same text since it was adopted by Ord. No. 2005-37 on September 25, 2005, as part of the article establishing Wylie's park regulations. It works alongside Sec. 78-110(22), which separately makes it unlawful to abandon, place, remove or injure any wild or domestic animal in a park, and Sec. 78-110(10), which bars polluting the water of any fountain, pond, lake or stream, another route by which improper feeding near park water features can draw a citation. Wylie's parks and recreation staff and code enforcement officers monitor and enforce the feeding ban, and violations are prosecuted in municipal court under the chapter 78 penalty provision, Sec. 78-111.
