Casa Grande, AZ Building Safety: Electrical Permits (2026)

Under Casa Grande Municipal Code Section 15.20.010, the city has adopted the National Electrical Code, 2017 Edition, including appendices A through J, together with the City of Casa Grande Amendments to that code. Both documents were made a public record by City Council Resolution No. 5170, and three copies are kept on file in the office of the Casa Grande City Clerk for public review. Rather than reprint the NEC text, the municipal code incorporates it by reference, so Planning and Development applies the 2017 NEC edition plus the city's own amendment package when it reviews electrical permit applications for wiring, service upgrades, and fixed equipment installations inside the City of Casa Grande.

Section 15.20.020 supplies the enforcement mechanism: it is unlawful for a person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert or demolish, equip, use, occupy or maintain any building, structure or building service equipment, or to cause or permit that work to be done, in violation of Chapter 15.20 or any other technical code the city has adopted. That reach extends to electrical work performed without first obtaining the required permit and passing the city's inspection, since unpermitted work is, by definition, done in violation of the adopted chapter.

The chapter governs only inside Casa Grande's corporate limits; unincorporated Pinal County, Arizona City, Eloy and Coolidge each administer electrical permitting under their own separate authority.
