Section 7-18 of the Novi Code is short but specific: it transfers authority for electrical licensing to the electrical administrative board, acting pursuant to state law rather than a city-run licensing office. The accompanying state law reference in the Code points to MCL 338.881 et seq., the state statute governing licensed contractors, confirming that Novi's electrical licensing structure runs on that state framework rather than a locally invented one. The electrical code that a Novi permit actually gets measured against is not written into this chapter directly.

Section 7-16 folds an "electrical" code into the list of codes promulgated as the State Construction Code under Section 4 of the Stille-DeRossett-Hale Act, so Novi enforces whichever electrical code edition the state has adopted as part of that construction code, rather than printing its own electrical chapter. Enforcement on the ground falls to the same enforcing agency named in Section 7-17: the building official and whichever inspectors, including electrical inspectors, that official designates. A contractor pulling an electrical permit in Novi is therefore dealing with two linked but separate systems: the electrical administrative board controls who is licensed to do the work, while the building official's office controls the permit and inspection of the work itself once a licensed electrician is on the job.
