Parker, CO Building Safety: Electrical Permits (2026)

Chapter 11.05 of the Parker Municipal Code, the Parker Electrical Code, adopts NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code, 2023 Edition, by reference under Section 11.05.020, citing Title 31, Article 16, Part 2, C.R.S. as the Town's statutory authority to regulate electrical work. The Town Council adopts the model code in full, including its outline of contents, index and appendices, then layers on local amendments in Section 11.05.050. Those amendments include a stricter definition of a dry electrical location that requires exterior openings to be sealed and roofing complete or sealed to the Building Official's satisfaction, a cap of ten outlet openings on a 15-amp branch circuit and thirteen on a 20-amp circuit in dwelling units, and a kitchen counter receptacle rule requiring at least two small-appliance branch circuits with no more than four outlet openings each.

The amendments also set service disconnect height limits, generally between 3 feet 6 inches and 6 feet 7 inches above grade, with a wider range allowed for tiered metering on multifamily buildings. Electrical contractors must register with the Town's Building Department, and the Chapter 11.19 registration rules bar the Town from issuing an electrical permit unless the contractor's current Colorado state electrical license is verified and on file, since electrical contractors are licensed by the State under Section 12-23-105, C.R.S. and only need to register locally.
