Piscataway, NJ Building Safety: Electrical Permits (2026)

Piscataway Township Code § 14-1.1 places the Electrical Subcode Official inside the Building Division of the Department of Community Development, the agency the Township created to enforce the State Uniform Construction Code, alongside the Building, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Subcode Officials, all under the Construction Official as chief administrator. The Electric Subcode fee schedule at § 14-1.3 prices individual categories of electrical work rather than charging a flat rate: the first 50 receptacles and fixtures cost $45, with $8 for each additional 25; motors and electrical devices are billed by horsepower, from $13 for up to 10 HP to $576 for anything larger than 100 HP; transformers and generators scale by kilowatt in the same bracket structure; and service panels, entrances, and subpanels run $58 up to 200 amps, $116 up to 300 amps, and $576 above that.

A $75 minimum fee applies to any electrical permit that would otherwise total less. Plan review, where required, adds 20% of the construction permit fee (5% for prototype submissions) under the same section, credited toward the final permit cost, and the total is due before the permit itself is issued.
