Section 21-626 governs where a boat, boat trailer, camping or travel trailer, or personal watercraft may sit on a residential lot. Front-yard storage is banned outright except on the property's own paved driveway, so a unit parked on grass, gravel or an unpaved area in front of the house is not allowed even briefly. The section limits a household to one such unit on the driveway at a time, whether it is a boat and trailer, a camping or travel trailer, or a personal watercraft; a resident cannot line up a boat and a travel trailer side by side on the same driveway.

Away from the driveway, storage elsewhere on the lot is subject to setback distances: at least 8 feet from any rear or side yard property line, and at least 12 feet from a front yard property line, distances that keep the stored unit away from a neighbor's fence line and off view from the street. The stored unit must stay in working condition, and no one may live in a stored boat or trailer on any lot in any zone. Because fuel storage over winter is a fire and spill concern, Section 21-626 requires all boats and personal watercraft to be drained of gasoline and other fuel during the storage period running from November 1 through April 30 each year.

Every stored boat, trailer or watercraft must also carry any registration required by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission or other applicable law, tying the local storage rule to the state's separate registration requirement rather than restating it.
