Piscataway, NJ Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 21-610 of the Zoning Chapter sets the Township's overnight curfew on commercial vehicles: no commercial vehicle or commercial trailer may be parked outdoors between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. in any residential zone, on a residential lot, or on the street adjoining that lot. The same curfew applies on any street that runs along the line dividing a commercial zone from a residential zone, so a business on the commercial side of a split street cannot park a truck overnight facing the residential side either.

Beyond the curfew, the section caps density: no more than one commercial vehicle may be parked on any residential lot or the adjoining street at any time, curfew hours or not. The Township carves out one exception for smaller trucks: a commercial vehicle or trailer rated at 3/4 ton or less by the manufacturer may be parked outdoors overnight, but the one-vehicle-per-lot cap still applies to that exempted vehicle. The section names its own enforcers, the Zoning Officer and the Director of Public Safety, along with their designees, giving Piscataway two departments with independent authority to cite a violation rather than relying on a single office.

Because the restriction sits in the Zoning Chapter's general regulations at Section 21-6, it applies uniformly across every residential zone in the Township rather than varying district by district, and it operates independently of any separate curfew or nuisance provisions found in the Police Regulations chapter.
