Piscataway, NJ Parking Rules: Snow Removal Parking Rules (2026)

Section 7-10, "Temporary Parking Prohibition for Snow Plowing and Removal" (1972 Code § 11-3.2, most recently amended by Ord. No. 20-26 and Ord. No. 04-01), declares that "whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that it covers the street or highway, an emergency shall exist and no vehicles shall be parked" on the listed streets, which the accompanying schedule identifies simply as "All Municipal Roadways," both sides, entire length, making the ban Townshipwide rather than limited to a short list of named streets.

Subsection a further provides that the prohibition "shall remain in effect after the snow has ceased, until the streets have been plowed significantly, and to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic," so drivers can't assume the ban lifts the moment snow stops falling. Subsection b treats any unoccupied vehicle left parked in violation as "a nuisance and a menace to the safe and proper regulation of traffic," and authorizes "any Police Officer" to have it towed, with the owner responsible for "the reasonable costs of the removal and storage" before getting the car back.

The section carries no separate fine schedule, so a violation falls under the Chapter 7 default penalty at § 7-4: $100 to $200, up to 15 days imprisonment, or both, plus court costs, in addition to the towing and storage costs the owner must pay to reclaim the vehicle.
