Homes in Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones face stricter inspection schedules. Existing single-family homes are not required to retrofit absent a major remodel. Annual inspection is recommended; tampering with risers or spray heads is a code violation.
Building permits cannot be finaled without functional sprinklers; tampering or removal triggers stop-work and fines of five hundred to two thousand dollars.
