Palmdale, CA Building Safety: Green Building Code (2026)

The Palmdale Green Code incorporates Chapters 2 through 8 and Appendix Chapters A4 and A5 of the 2025 California Green Building Standards Code, published by the state Building Standards Commission, in full by reference; Sec. 776 requires the City Clerk to keep a copy on file for public inspection, and Sec. 777 folds the Green Code into the same shared administrative provisions, adopted at Sec. 200, that govern permitting for the Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, Residential and Green codes together. Because the Green Code's administrative chapter is shared with the other five adopted codes, a project's green-building compliance is checked at the same plan-check and permit-issuance stage as its structural, electrical and plumbing review: Sec.

1 requires a permit before any covered building work begins, and Sec. 3 requires plans and specifications sufficient to show the work conforms to "the Codes," which the ordinance defines to include the Green Code alongside the Building, Residential, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical Codes. The prior 2022 edition of the Green Code, adopted by Ordinance 1595, was superseded when the City Council adopted the current 2025 edition by Ordinance 1661 on October 21, 2025, the same ordinance that updated Palmdale's Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Residential and Existing Building Codes to their 2025 editions together.
