1 of the Palmdale Administrative Provisions makes all permitted construction subject to inspection by the Building Official, and requires the work to stay accessible and exposed until approved; certain installations also need special inspection under the adopted Building Code. 2 requires the permit holder to post or otherwise make available an inspection record card on site until final approval is granted. 3 bars work from proceeding past the point covered by a given inspection without the Building Official's written approval, and makes uncorrected, covered-up noncompliant work a violation subject to the code's penalties.

4 lists the required building inspections: a foundation inspection after trenches are excavated, forms erected and reinforcing steel placed; a concrete slab or under-floor inspection before pouring or subfloor installation; a frame inspection after roofing, framing and rough utilities are complete; a lath or wallboard inspection before plastering or taping; and a final inspection after finish grading, when the building is ready for occupancy. Parallel inspection sequences apply to plumbing (testing and approval before covering any system), mechanical (equipment inspected before concealment and before connecting fuel or power), and electrical work (inspected and approved before covering, and again before energizing).
