Section 6-2-1-208 states plainly that all work requiring a permit under the plumbing code shall be inspected by the appropriate city official to ensure compliance with all the requirements of the code, and that inspections are subject to an inspection fee set in the city's fee schedule. The mechanics of getting that inspection scheduled are spelled out in the adjoining Section 6-2-1-209: the licensed contractor doing the permitted work must notify the building division office that the work is ready for inspection, and the timing of that notice controls turnaround.

The contractor also has to be confident the work will pass before calling for it, since Section 6-2-1-209(B) requires the contractor to make sure the work will stand the tests prescribed elsewhere in the plumbing code before giving that notification. Because Section 6-2-1-206 makes any plumbing code violation punishable under Section 1-1-119 with revocation of the plumber's registration certificate as an additional remedy, a failed or skipped inspection is not just a scheduling problem, it exposes the registered contractor to fines and loss of the certificate that lets them pull permits in the city at all.
