Louisburg, KS Building Safety: Plumbing Permits (2026)

Louisburg adopted the International Plumbing Code, 2018 Edition, as its Plumbing Code under City Code § 4-301 (Ord. 866; Code 2020; Ord. 1125; Ord. 1142), with three copies on file at the Building & Zoning office for public inspection. Anyone doing plumbing work, whether an owner, tenant or contractor, needs a permit before installing, altering, repairing, relocating or replacing plumbing systems inside the corporate limits. Section 4-302 revises the adopted IPC text specifically for Louisburg: Section 101.1 inserts the city's name into the code, and Section 106.6.2 sets the local permit fee schedule at $25 for the first plumbing fixture on one trap, $10 for each additional fixture, $25 for a lawn sprinkler system including backflow protection devices, and $25 for all other plumbing permits.

Inspections requested outside normal business hours cost $50 per hour with a two-hour minimum. Section 106.6.3 lets the code official refund up to 80 percent of a permit fee when no work has started, or up to 80 percent of a plan review fee when the application is withdrawn before review begins, but only on written request filed within 180 days of payment. Section 108.5 lets the code official issue a stop-work notice whenever plumbing work is being done contrary to the code or in an unsafe manner; continuing work after a stop-work order is itself a separate violation.
