Parker, CO Business Licensing & Operations: Towing Companies (2026)

Chapter 7.05 of the Parker Municipal Code, Wrecker and Towing Services, requires any wrecker operating in Town to register with the Town Clerk before doing business. Section 7.05.030 conditions that registration on the operator verifying it holds a current license from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission and filing a schedule of its current rates and hours of availability, along with any later changes; that schedule becomes a public record police can hand out at a collision scene. Operating as a wrecker or towing business in Parker without registering is itself a violation.

Section 7.05.050 bars a wrecker from towing or moving a vehicle from a public street without the consent of the vehicle's owner or custodian or without police authorization, and bars moving any vehicle involved in a crash with injuries or property damage over $50 until a law-enforcement official directs otherwise. Section 7.05.060 separately prohibits chasing or soliciting business at the scene of a fire, explosion, traffic accident or other disaster, including driving a tow truck to the scene or soliciting bystanders for towing work, unless the operator was actually called there by the vehicle's owner, an insurer, an agent or the Police Department.

Section 7.05.040 requires police and private tow operators to keep records of every police-requested tow, including the time of the request, vehicle description, condition and towing charges, retained for one year and open to Police Department inspection.
