Canton Codified Ordinances § 111.04 creates the position of Nuisance Inspector, a designated employee within the office of Council, and lists exactly which chapters of the code the inspector is charged with enforcing: Chapter 355 (Parking on Private Property), Chapter 505 (Animals and Fowl), Chapter 521 (Health, Safety and Sanitation), Chapter 551 (Weeds and Litter), Chapter 905 (Construction of Sidewalks and Curbs), Chapter 917 (Trees), Section 1129.15 (Repair of Motor Vehicles) and Section 1129.16 (Storage of Vehicles in Residential Districts). Council may add further laws and ordinances to that list at any time.

Because the section names these chapters together in one place, it doubles as the city's own list of the violations its residents raise most often: junk cars and unregistered vehicles parked on private lawns, loose or unlicensed animals, overgrown weeds and accumulated litter, unrepaired sidewalks and curbs, dead or damaged trees, and vehicles being repaired or stored outdoors in residential districts. The position and its enforcement list were established by Ord. 33-92, passed March 2, 1992, and the Nuisance Inspector carries real enforcement teeth: the same section authorizes the inspector to issue citations directly for minor misdemeanor offenses and to sign criminal complaints for anything charged as a fourth-degree misdemeanor or worse.

That two-tier structure means a first weeds-and-litter citation under Chapter 551 is handled administratively, while a repeat or aggravated violation, such as chronic junk-vehicle storage under Section 1129.16, can be referred for criminal prosecution in Canton Municipal Court.
