Anyone doing house-to-house peddling in Baton Rouge or East Baton Rouge Parish needs a $10 permit from the finance department first. Getting one requires a Louisiana State Police background check cleared through the city constable, and every permit holder must carry a photo ID badge, worn in plain view while working, a requirement in effect since November 1, 2015.
