Tree Trimming

Georgetown County Code Sec. 13.8-124 makes property owners responsible for trimming any shrub, tree, or plant that grows over a sidewalk or bike path in the unincorporated county so it stops blocking the path. Before anyone can be fined, a county official must give written notice and 15 days to trim or remove the plant; only a failure to comply within that window triggers the Code's general penalty, up to $200 or 30 days in jail.

2.2.3 Chapter 3, Section 302.4 Weeds shall read, "All premises and exterior property shall be maintained free from weeds or plant growth in excess of twenty (20) inches. All noxious weeds shall be prohibited. Weeds shall be defined as all grasses, annual plants and vegetation, other than trees or shrubs provided; however, this term shall not include cultivated flowers and gardens."
