Barking Dogs

In unincorporated Nassau County it is unlawful under Sec. 6-54(k) for an owner to let an animal bark, howl, whine or make similar noise persistently or continuously for thirty minutes or more when it is not inside an enclosure that muffles the sound. A citation requires signed affidavits from at least two separate neighboring households, or audio or video proof, submitted to Animal Control.

In unincorporated Nassau County, no audio device may be played on the Atlantic Ocean beach or beach parking areas if it is plainly audible fifty feet away, and electronically amplified music is barred outright between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Violators face an order to leave; refusal is prosecuted as trespass, a second-degree misdemeanor.
