Prohibited Species
In Okaloosa County's water resource caution areas, the Land Development Code bans planting eleven listed invasive species outright, including water hyacinth, hydrilla, cogon grass and Chinese tallow tree. A second, longer list of species such as kudzu and Japanese climbing fern is allowed in a landscape plan only in areas that will be frequently mowed and maintained.
