Flood Elevation
In Roanoke County, Virginia (outside the independent cities of Roanoke and Salem), enclosed space below a flood-elevated floor can't be lived in and must let floodwater pass through freely. Code § 30-74-15(C) and (D) require sized flood openings and cap any non-elevated accessory building in the floodplain at 600 square feet.
