Pool Permits
Building a swimming pool on residential property in unincorporated Spalding County requires a building permit from the Department of Community Development under Code § 8-1006. The county exempts only prefabricated pools no more than twenty-four inches deep and no larger than five thousand gallons. Any larger pool, including a standard in-ground pool, must go through the full application, plan review, and inspection process before a single shovel goes into the ground.
