Flood Elevation

In unincorporated Sumter County, new homes in mapped flood hazard areas must have their lowest floor elevated to the base flood elevation plus one foot, or the design flood elevation, whichever is higher, under Sumter County Code § 6-72's amendment to Florida Building Code, Residential R322.2.1. Higher standards apply in Coastal A and AO zones.
