Flood Elevation
Before hurricane season floods a special flood hazard area, Sumter County requires new and substantially improved homes there to have the lowest floor elevated at least two feet above base flood elevation. Section 18-72(1) bars basements entirely and sets equally strict rules for manufactured homes on flood-prone lots.
