Farm Nuisance Protection
Unincorporated Sumter County exempts routine farm work from its noise-nuisance ordinance. Sumter County Code § 14-134(d) states the noise article does not apply to 'the conduct of agricultural or farming activities, tree harvesting or clearing,' along with lawn and yard maintenance, when those activities occur between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., protecting farmers from noise complaints over daytime equipment and fieldwork.
