Sanford, FL Curfew Laws: Juvenile Curfew (2026)

Section 54-2 of the Sanford City Code, dating to Ordinance No. 717 adopted in 1960, bars any person under the age of 17 from loitering, wandering, strolling or playing on a street, alley, sidewalk, parkway, park, playground or other public place, in a public building, place of amusement or entertainment, or on a vacant lot, between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The curfew does not apply to a minor accompanied by a parent, guardian or other adult with lawful custody, nor to a minor performing a lawful errand or business with a parent's or guardian's consent.

The ordinance also reaches the adults responsible for the child: a parent, guardian or other adult having custody of a minor may not permit that minor to violate the curfew. Enforcement is through the Sanford Police Department, and each violation, whether by the minor or by the responsible adult, is a separate offense carrying a fine of not less than $1.00 nor more than $100.00 (§54-2(c)). The curfew sits in Chapter 54, 'Miscellaneous Offenses,' alongside the city's other public-order rules such as the ban on obstructing public property and the panhandling and pedestrian-obstruction restrictions of the same chapter.
