Sanford, FL Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

Schedule H, Section 8.0(G) of Sanford's Land Development Regulations sets fire lane pavement striping and signage standards for any building or site required to include a fire lane. Section 8.0(G)(1) requires the pavement striping itself to be yellow, painted in thermoplastic or an equivalent substitute, with the striped perimeter starting at the curb and extending 8 feet parallel to it, using 4-inch-wide lines spaced 10 inches apart. Section 8.0(G)(2) requires the words 'NO PARKING FIRE LANE' painted within that striped perimeter in 4-inch-wide yellow FDOT traffic-rated reflective letters, repeated no more than 100 feet apart.

Section 8.0(G)(3) backs the pavement markings with matching signs, installed no more than 100 feet apart with high-intensity reflective lettering, and Section 8.0(G)(4) requires the pavement lettering and signs to be staggered so neither is more than 50 feet apart. Section 8.0(G)(5) is the specific curb-painting rule: all curb facing must be painted yellow for the entire length of the fire lane using FDOT traffic-rated reflective paint. Sanford's code does not set out a separate general curb-color scheme for ordinary no-parking or loading zones outside of this fire lane standard; the yellow curb-and-striping combination in Section 8.0(G) is what the Land Development Regulations actually require.
