the following day. It is separately unlawful for a parent or guardian to knowingly permit, or through insufficient control allow, a minor to remain out during those hours. The section lists specific defenses: the minor was with a parent or guardian; running a direct errand for one; traveling interstate in a vehicle; coming from or going to a job, movie, sporting event, or similar entertainment without a detour; responding to an emergency; standing on the sidewalk in front of home or a neighbor's home absent a complaint; attending a school, religious, or City- or park-district-sponsored activity; exercising free speech rights; married, previously married, or otherwise emancipated; or on active military duty.
