Arcadia, CA Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Arcadia Municipal Code § 4410 is the citywide park curfew. It bars any person from being or remaining in or upon, or entering, a park owned or operated by the City of Arcadia between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. of the following day. The ban reaches people on foot and people in vehicles: driving, operating, stopping, or simply being in a vehicle inside a park all count.

Parking has its own section. Under § 4410.1, no one can park a vehicle in a city park between the same hours while signs giving notice remain posted in the park. A vehicle parked in violation is subject to towaway at the owner's expense, but only where each sign also carries a towaway notice and the telephone number of the Arcadia Police Department. The Public Works Director is the official authorized to post those signs.

The exceptions are narrow. Section 4410.2 says Part 1 of the chapter does not apply to Wilderness Park, which has its own Part, and does not apply to a city employee, or an employee of a public utility or governmental agency, who is required to do the prohibited acts in the course of employment.

Wilderness Park, defined in § 4421.3 as roughly eight and one-half acres owned by the City and also called the Wilderness Preserve, follows a sun-based rule in § 4422: no one can be or remain there, on foot or in a vehicle, from one hour after sunset to one hour after sunrise of the following day. Section 4422.1 excuses people taking part in organized and supervised recreational activities sponsored by a charitable, religious or fraternal organization with the approval of the City Recreation Director, along with employees who must be in the area for work.

The Dog Park has its own hours under § 4425(a): 7:00 a.m. to dark. The City Manager can lengthen them for a particular day or a period of days, on a limited basis, after finding good cause and minimal inconvenience to nearby persons.

Section 4410.3 adds a second layer. Any park-use regulation adopted by resolution of the City Council and posted in a conspicuous place in the park is enforceable as a violation of the Arcadia Municipal Code. Arcadia County Park, bounded by Huntington Drive, Santa Anita Avenue and Campus Drive, is policed under Los Angeles County Ordinance No. 10,309, adopted by reference in § 4510, in addition to any City Council regulations.
