Flagstaff, AZ Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Flagstaff City Code § 8-11-001-0005 sets the operating hours for every City of Flagstaff park: open sunrise to 10:00 p.m., 365 days a year, unless the Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Events Division has issued a permit covering a different use. Lighting for sport courts inside city parks cuts off at 9:00 p.m. under the same section, again unless a permit says otherwise. The hours restriction does not reach public sidewalks or public streets that run through park property and function as a transportation corridor, so through traffic is unaffected after 10:00 p.m.

City employees and law enforcement officers acting within their duties are exempt from the hours rule while working. Subsection E makes it unlawful to enter any park property that has been closed and posted as closed by the City, a separate offense from simply being present after 10:00 p.m. in an unposted park. Section 8-11-001-0006(C) carves out an exception: the standard hours in § 8-11-001-0005 do not apply during, or within areas designated for, a permitted special event under Chapter 8-12. Enforcement of Title 8, Chapter 8-11 as a whole is assigned under § 8-11-001-0003 to the City Manager or a designee, which the code identifies as including the Parks Section, the Recreation Section, and the Flagstaff Police Department; that same section makes violations of the chapter's activities, prohibitions, and other-rules sections a class one misdemeanor, though the base hours provision in § 8-11-001-0005 is enforced separately as an unlawful-entry offense under subsection E rather than through that misdemeanor classification.
