Grand Junction, CO Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Grand Junction Municipal Code § 12.04.010 makes it unlawful for anyone to be or remain in a City park during its prohibited hours, with exceptions only for City employees on official duty, people attending or leaving a permitted function, and anyone holding a City Manager permit to be in the park during otherwise closed hours. Section 12.04.015 then sets the actual clock by park classification: community, regional and neighborhood parks with formal programmable sports facilities close from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.; neighborhood and mini parks, open space and undeveloped parks and properties, cemeteries, and School IGA sites all close earlier, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

School IGA sites are also closed to the public during school hours except for approved school-related or Mesa County Valley School District activities held on-site. The City Manager classifies each park into one of these categories at acquisition or when its principal use changes, and can amend the classification system administratively, though the City Manager may defer either decision to City Council. Subsection (f) protects against a person being cited for conduct that only became unlawful under a reclassification until the City posts adequate notice of the new hours at the site itself. Neither § 12.04.010 nor § 12.04.015 states its own fine, so a violation is punished under the citywide general penalty in GJMC § 1.04.090.
