Woodland, CA Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Woodland Municipal Code § 9.28.160(A) makes it unlawful for any person to be within a park during curfew hours, running from 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise, and requires each park to be posted with a sign announcing the closure. Because the curfew tracks sunset and sunrise rather than a fixed clock time, the closure window shifts through the year, tightening in summer and loosening in winter. Subsection (B) carves out three exceptions: people engaged in City business, people in a City-preapproved program or activity, and people using a park under a City facility use permit issued by the Parks and Recreation Department that specifically authorizes use during the prohibited hours.

Subsection (C) defines 'park' for the section as a community, neighborhood or greenbelt park. The curfew also has teeth beyond the park gates themselves: § 9.28.170 separately bars parking a vehicle on a street immediately adjacent to a park during the same 30-minutes-after-sunset-to-30-minutes-before-sunrise window, unless the driver is authorized to be in the park under § 9.28.160. Subsection (D) of § 9.28.160 sets the penalty by cross-reference to § 9.28.290, and enforcement in practice also falls back on the code's general penalty structure at § 1.08.070, which treats an unspecified violation as a misdemeanor unless designated an infraction. The Woodland Police Department and Parks and Recreation Department jointly administer the posted signage and permit exceptions.
