Section 17.68.080 sits in Chapter 17.68, Parking and Loading, and applies to every building or structure used for industrial uses, commercial uses other than offices, or any building where goods are received or shipped, or that needs pick-up and drop-off activity. Subsection A sets the trigger at 7,500 square feet of gross floor area for the first required truck loading and unloading space, then adds one more space for each additional 20,000 square feet or major fraction of that increment, so loading capacity scales directly with a building's footprint.

Subsection B fixes the minimum dimensions for every loading space at 10 feet in width, 25 feet in length, and 14 feet in height, sized for a full-size delivery truck rather than a passenger vehicle. Subsection C keeps loading space separate from the site's required parking count: the driveways and corridors leading to a loading space do not count toward it, and the loading space itself cannot be counted toward satisfying off-street parking minimums. Subsection D is the operative ban on curbside activity: loading space must be provided on site unless the code specifies otherwise, and no on-street loading spaces are permitted at all.

Subsection E carves out a narrow exception for uses with only occasional receiving or shipping needs, letting industrial, commercial, and office uses use a portion of their driveway or parking area for temporary loading and unloading rather than building a dedicated bay. Subsection F flags that special uses such as day care, adult care, kennels, hospitals, and schools carry their own loading standards in Chapter 17.84, Standards for Specific Uses and Activities, so those uses do not default to the general table in this section.
