Ashwaubenon, WI Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Chapter 6, Article 12 of the Ashwaubenon Municipal Code requires every mobile food vendor to hold a license from the Office of the Village Clerk before selling food anywhere in the Village, with an exception only for vendors given permission to operate at a Village Sponsored Event. Under Section 6-12-463(B)(2), a license covers a single mobile food establishment, expires June 30 each year regardless of issue date, and under (B)(5) cannot be transferred between people, businesses, vehicles or carts. A license that sits unused for 90 continuous days is presumed invalid and subject to revocation under (B)(6) unless the Village Board of Trustees authorizes otherwise.

The license fee is not fixed in the ordinance; Section 6-12-463(B)(3) sets it by resolution in the Village's Fees and Licenses Schedule, and (B)(4) requires a fresh application as a new applicant if renewal and payment are not filed within 30 days of expiration. Applicants go through the Department of Public Safety for review under (C)(1), and the Village can deny an application under (C)(2) for a substantially related pending criminal charge or conviction, a false statement, being under 18, or unsatisfied civil judgments tied to the licensed activity; a denied applicant has 15 calendar days to appeal to the Public Works & Protection Committee under (C)(3).

Every licensee must also carry at least $1,000,000 in liability insurance naming the Village as additional insured under (E), and must meet Wisconsin Food Code and Brown County Health Department sanitation and service-base requirements under (F), including annual inspections.
