Chapter 6, Article 12's conduct-of-business rules single out sidewalk and street-level sales for extra restriction. Section 6-12-463(G)(3)(g) bars anyone from conducting business on a sidewalk within 20 feet of where that sidewalk meets another sidewalk, within 10 feet of the extension of any building entrance or doorway to the curb line, or within 300 feet of any building or structure operating a food-selling business during that business's open hours, unless the business gives written permission. On top of those distances, (G)(3)(c) prohibits obstructing an adjacent path or lane of travel, defined to include sidewalks, vehicle lanes, bicycle lanes and designated parking areas, and (G)(1)(j) requires written permission from the Department of Public Safety before conducting business at all on a public street, alley, sidewalk or other land dedicated to public use, with a separate written permission requirement from the Department of Parks and Recreation for parks and playgrounds; that permission requirement does not apply to trucks selling primarily ice cream and frozen novelties.

Every vendor selling near a sidewalk or terrace must also keep a 25-foot radius around the sales location clean and hazard-free under (G)(1)(g), may not dump food waste, wash water or cleaning liquid onto the street, sidewalk, gutters, catch basins or storm drains, and must supply a 32-gallon trash container for customer litter, since using a Village refuse container is strictly prohibited. Sales in the right-of-way must be made from the curbside of the vehicle at all times under (G)(1)(i).
