Beaumont, CA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Beaumont Municipal Code § 5.72.040 stacks several approvals before a truck can vend. The operator needs a City of Beaumont business license, an inspection of the exhaust system (hood, grease-removal devices, fans, ducts and other appurtenances), fire protection systems and fuel gas systems under Section 4107 of the California Fire Code, a certification statement with a wet signature confirming compliance with the wastewater disposal and discharge provisions of Chapter 13.09, and the food truck permit itself. Where the food truck activity is associated with a city-permitted special event, the section says no separate food truck permit is required and the event conditions apply instead; Chapter 9.03 governs the event permit.

Before the City issues the business license and the food truck permit, the applicant must supply a copy of the county health permit for each truck, proof of a valid California Department of Tax and Fee Administration seller's permit that lists the city as a location or sublocation, and proof of public liability and property damage insurance, including general commercial liability coverage of not less than $1,000,000.00. Copies of the business license and food truck permit must be displayed in conspicuous view on each truck at all times while business is conducted, and both are non-transferable, so any change in ownership or operation of a truck means a new business license and a new permit.

Under § 5.72.050 the truck must also hold the authorization required by the County of Riverside Department of Environmental Health, kept in the truck and visible at all times, and the City runs annual inspections to verify the business license, the health permit and the food truck permit. Permit fees under § 5.72.090 are based on staff time for processing, sit on top of the business license cost, and are subject to review and change by the City Council.
