Beaumont, CA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Chapter 5.72 of the Beaumont Municipal Code sets the map for mobile food vending through operational standards. Under § 5.72.060, trucks cannot operate on public streets without an approved food truck permit, and cannot operate in residential areas (defined in § 5.72.030 as any area zoned or used exclusively as residential in the city) unless the truck is part of an approved special event. No truck can operate within one full street block in all directions of a restaurant located within a building, unless it is affiliated with an established restaurant of the same name, and none can operate within one full street block of an off-street food truck event or city-permitted special event.

Schools, parks, community centers and public playground facilities carry the same one-block buffer, with an exception for a city park when the City has approved the truck for a special event or the Director of Community Services has approved a facility use reservation. Vending is barred within 50 feet of a crosswalk and on any undeveloped lot except at a city-permitted special event. Operating hours run from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., including setup and clean-up, unless a special event permit or the hours of a commercial or industrial facility being served say otherwise.

On the public right-of-way (§ 5.72.080), trucks operate only where not otherwise prohibited, on downtown streets, secondary streets, secondary frontage and industrial collector streets, in a legal parking space directly adjacent to a paved sidewalk that stays clear for pedestrians. Food service is limited to the sidewalk side, and no food is dispensed street side. No truck can stay on the same block longer than four hours in each 24-hour period, and moving to another space on that block does not restart the clock. Private property operations over four hours in 24 need notarized owner permission, paved parking, and two off-street spaces per truck (§ 5.72.070).
