Beaumont, CA Animal Ordinances: Chickens & Livestock (2026)

Section 17.09.030 of the Beaumont Municipal Code allows domestic animals subject to Title 6. Paragraph B lists birds, chickens, peafowl, ducks and other fowl, monkeys, rabbits and similar species as small animals permitted in all residential zones, limits the total to ten per household, and caps birds, chickens or other fowl at four under Section 6.02.160. Section 6.02.160 goes further: no person can keep roosters, peacocks, or flocks of five or more pigeons, doves, ducks or other birds or fowl in the City, and keeping them is declared a nuisance.

The exception is parcels of one acre or larger in the Rural-Residential (R-R) zone, where roosters or peacocks cannot exceed one per acre and other birds or fowl cannot exceed five per acre. Paragraph A confines large animals to R-R lots of at least 20,000 square feet per dwelling unit, at no more than one animal per 20,000 square feet. Table 17.09-1 allows one horse, donkey, mule, pig or cow over nine months of age, or one sheep or goat over six months of age, per 20,000 square feet.

Section 17.09.050.E requires a coop or enclosure for small animals to sit at least 100 feet from any street and 50 feet from any lot line, and the Community Development Director decides modification requests. Section 17.09.060.J requires manure removal at least every 14 days, and Section 17.09.040.A requires fencing that keeps fowl from flying onto neighboring property.
