Bossier City, LA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Bossier City's code does not use the phrase 'food truck,' but Sec. 58-51, in Chapter 58 Health and Sanitation, defines special event vendor broadly enough to cover mobile food sellers: anyone engaged in selling food at retail for human consumption who keeps a place of business open for temporary periods of less than 30 days or who moves from place to place in a vehicle or conveyance. That definition sweeps in the roving trucks and trailers that set up near the Louisiana Boardwalk, the Brookshire Grocery Arena or a neighborhood event.

Sec. 58-52 is the operative permit rule: it is unlawful for a special event vendor to engage in or do business in the city without first securing a license, and the application, filed with the mayor or the mayor's designee, must state the kind of food intended to be sold or handled. The license carries a flat $100.00 fee regardless of the size of the operation. Once issued, the license is not permanent protection: subsection (b) lets the mayor or the mayor's designee revoke it for repeated violation of any ordinance relating to the conduct of the business, the condition of the premises, the articles sold, or the license requirement itself.

Because the license sits in the health and sanitation chapter, an operator also has to keep the truck's premises clean under Sec. 58-53's sanitation rules covering spoiled food, refuse accumulation and employee cleanliness, and a citation there can feed back into the mayor's revocation authority under Sec. 58-52(b).
