Bossier City, LA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Sidewalk & Mobile Vending (2026)

Sec. 74-2 of the Bossier City Code makes it unlawful for any person acting as an itinerant vendor to peddle, sell, offer for sale, exhibit for sale, or take orders for sale of fresh or frozen meats or fresh or frozen seafood from any vehicle, trailer or other ports or movable structure anywhere within the city limits. The section was rewritten by Ord. No. 55-2013, adopted August 6, 2013, which replaced an earlier version titled peddling certain meats, farm produce, seafoods; the current text narrows the ban to meat and seafood sold from mobile platforms rather than a broader farm-produce restriction.

Because the prohibition is keyed to the itinerant-vendor definition, a fixed brick-and-mortar seafood market or grocery counter is not covered, and the ban applies regardless of whether the vendor is parked on a public street, a sidewalk frontage, or a private lot. Any mobile food vendor operating in Bossier City who is not selling meat or seafood is still subject to the general peddler license requirement of Sec. 74-1, which costs $100.00, and to any additional permitting the Bossier City Police Department or health department requires for food handling.

Vendors found selling covered meat or seafood products from a truck, trailer or cart can be cited under Sec. 74-2 in addition to any license violation, making it the operative rule for anyone planning to run a mobile seafood or meat stand at a festival, roadside lot or curbside location in the city.
