Grand Junction, CO Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

GJMC § 21.04.030(d)(4) defines a mobile food vendor as a readily movable, motorized or towed wheeled vehicle equipped to prepare, serve or sell food and registered with a motor vehicle department, with a mobile food vendor court being three or more such vendors on one property. These standards apply to vendors and vendor courts operating on private property, except when a vendor instead operates as a temporary use under GJMC § 21.04.050. Covered vendors are limited to 32 square feet of signage, excluding signage fixed to the vehicle itself, and are exempt from the City's landscaping, screening and buffering rules in Chapter 21.07.

Every vendor or vendor court must provide an on-site sanitary facility, or a written agreement letting employees and customers share an existing facility within 750 feet of the vendor's approved site sketch, though that shared facility cannot be a residential use. Permanent utility hookups are barred for individual vendors, and wastewater must go to a facility with an approved industrial pretreatment system or a licensed hauler. Vendors choosing the temporary-use path instead need a Temporary Use Permit issued under GJMC § 21.02.040(b) before setting up, per § 21.04.050(a)(2)(i), though mobile food vendors are the one use exempted from that chapter's usual 30-day waiting period between temporary uses on the same lot.
