Gretna, LA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Gretna Code of Ordinances § 12-478 requires a moving-vendor permit applicant to apply with the tax collector and submit, at minimum, a current lease or letter of permission from the property owner showing the exact sale location, a permit from the parish health unit for any food or foodstuff sold, the applicant's state and city occupational license and sales tax number, and a letter from the tax collector confirming the property is properly zoned for the intended use. 00 per location, and § 12-480 issues the permit on a calendar-year basis, with renewal applications barred before September 1 of the preceding year.

Food vendors specifically must also satisfy § 12-454: they need a depot or processing plant for adequate storage, refrigeration and equipment sanitizing, subject to a pre-permit inspection, and, if selling any potentially hazardous food, such as milk products, eggs, meat, poultry, fish, shellfish or crustacea, that food cannot be sold raw or unprocessed and must be properly cooked or packaged. 00 comprehensive general liability policy which shall include product liability coverage," with proof submitted to the department of inspection and code enforcement before the permit issues.

A permit under this division is not transferable between vendors but can move with the same vendor to a new location without an added fee under § 12-482.
