Hutto, TX Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Hutto Code of Ordinances § 8.04.131 makes it unlawful for any itinerant vendor or mobile street vendor to engage in business as defined in Article 8.04, Division 3 within the incorporated city limits without first obtaining a permit from the city. Section 8.04.132 requires the written application to be filed with the city manager or designee at least twenty-one days before the initial contemplated sale or exhibit, and it must include the applicant's full name, address and telephone number; proof of identity with a driver's license or ID card and a recent photograph; the location of the applicant's principal office; the names and addresses of any employer; a Department of Public Safety criminal history, issued within ninety days of the application, for the applicant and every worker, helper, employee, assistant or agent who will be on site; a description of any motor vehicle used, including its vehicle identification number and license plate; and, if vending on private property, written proof of the property owner's permission stating the exact dates and times allowed.

Mobile street vendors also face operating rules under § 8.04.106, such as vending only from the curb side of a stopped vehicle, never to a person standing in the roadway, and never within 100 feet of a street intersection.
