Kenner, LA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

The Kenner Unified Development Code regulates mobile food vending through the Food Truck Park use, defined in Article V as an outdoor business that hosts food trucks on a temporary or permanent basis on a single site. Section 6.10(b)(3)(j) makes a Food Truck Park a conditional use in the C-2 General Commercial district, requiring review and approval under the Conditional Use Permit procedures of Section 6.03(g), which includes a Planning and Zoning Commission public hearing and City Council final action. Beyond the permit process itself, the park's operators must meet several fixed standards: off-street parking is required at one space per 150 square feet of park area, excluding parking and landscaped areas; all food preparation must occur inside the truck, with no grills, fryers, smokers, or boiling equipment used outdoors; permanent restrooms and hand-washing facilities are mandatory; drive-through service is banned; and individual generators are prohibited, since electrical service must come through permanent, underground on-site connections with individual connection boxes at each vending space, not aerial line extensions.

Because it is a conditional use, no truck park can operate until the City Council adopts the approving ordinance following the Commission's recommendation, and any change in the approved site plan requires a new hearing under Section 6.01(d)(6) unless it qualifies as a minor administrative modification.
