Sanford, FL Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Under the City of Sanford Mobile Food Vendors Ordinance, it is prohibited and unlawful to sell food as a mobile food vendor without first obtaining a license from the city, and the $100 license fee per mobile food unit is due before the license issues, subject to change by city commission resolution. Applications must be filed on city forms with the applicant's name and address, business name and address, a description of the food to be sold, and the license or registration number of each vehicle or unit used.

Applicants must submit a site plan showing the proposed location, parking, entrances and exits and distances to buildings, sidewalks, rights-of-way, fire hydrants and landscaped areas, plus proof of any needed right-of-way use permits, applicable state licenses, and payment of local business tax before the license is issued. Before a license issues, the vendor must also sign a hold-harmless and indemnification statement and carry at least $1,000,000 in public liability, food products liability and property damage coverage naming the city as additional insured, with 45 days' notice before the policy can be cancelled.

The license is valid for one year from issuance and may be renewed using the same application procedures. Mobile food trucks doing any cooking must also get a fire inspection from the city's fire marshal before operating, and the license must be displayed on the unit at all times.
