Sanford, FL Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Sidewalk & Mobile Vending (2026)

The Sanford Mobile Food Vendors Ordinance places specific conduct duties on any licensed vendor working city sidewalks and other public ways, on top of the general licensing requirement. A vendor may not impede normal pedestrian traffic on a sidewalk or public way, as conclusively determined by a city law enforcement or code enforcement officer on the spot, and may not obstruct or interfere with the free flow of pedestrian or vehicular traffic, block access to a business, or restrict sight distance at driveways. Every mobile food unit must carry a trash container that is readily accessible to customers, and before moving on from a sales location the vendor must pick up and remove all litter, trash and waste tied to its sales within a 100-foot radius of that sales area.

Physically, mobile food trucks may only park on paved surfaces, and the sales area itself cannot exceed the footprint of a standard parking space, 200 square feet; the operator must also provide a minimum of two parking spaces adjacent to the vending area for the truck's exclusive use, without eating into the minimum parking required for any other use on the site. Vendors are additionally barred from creating nuisance conditions on the sidewalk, such as flags, signage outside the unit's operational area, loud noise, or amplified music, and from setting up sales from dusk to dawn unless a license specifically authorizes other hours.
