Blue Springs' Unified Development Code glossary, Section 411.040, defines a MOBILE FOOD TRUCK/TRAILER as a large vehicle equipped for cooking or providing food for sale that serves food or beverages from an enclosed, self-contained motorized vehicle or trailer, and it builds the vending limit directly into that definition rather than into a separate zoning map or district standard. Because a truck loses that definition the moment it sits on one lot or one street for more than twenty-four straight hours outside a festival, carnival, or similar event, there is no fixed 'food truck zone' in the city; the 24-hour clock is the operative control on where and how long a truck can operate anywhere in Blue Springs.

A separate glossary term, MOBILE FOOD BUSINESS, covers vendors that serve from a self-contained motorized or trailer-mounted unit while conducting business on premises other than their own, which folds in trucks that regularly rotate among host properties such as breweries or retail lots.
