Lawton, OK Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 12-1-108(H)(2) flatly bars mobile food-service establishments in the preparation-and-sales category from operating on any street, street right-of-way, or city property unless a permit issued by the City of Lawton authorizes it. For city-owned land such as parks, Section 12-1-108(G) creates that permit: unless the truck is part of a city-permitted event, it may apply for a city property operation permit, filed at least two business days before setup and approved by both the community services director and the parks and recreation director. An approved truck pays the applicable fee, gets up to three consecutive days per permit, and may only operate during posted park hours, set at 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. unless a park posts different hours.

Five specific parks are off-limits to a permitted truck unless the park's own approved concessionaire gives written permission: McMahon Park, Eastside Community Park, Grand View Sports Complex, Ahlshlager Park, and Elmer Thomas Park while the Holiday House is open. A city property operation permit never authorizes setup on public right-of-way or easement, use of striped parking spaces must be avoided, and the truck must clear all trash and appurtenances at the end of each day or when it leaves, whichever comes first. Trucks invited into a city-permitted event, fair, carnival or similar transitory gathering may instead operate for the event's full public hours without the separate park permit. Failing to comply lets the city manager revoke the truck's right to hold a city property operation permit for up to twelve months.
