Milton, WI Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Chapter 14, Article XIII of the City of Milton Code of Ordinances defines a mobile vendor as anyone selling goods, including food, from a motorized or nonmotorized vehicle, trailer, or cart not permanently attached to the ground; it excludes wholesale delivery units, straight food delivery vehicles, and common carriers. Section 14-702 splits where vending can happen: on private property, a mobile vendor needs the permission of the owner or another person with authority to control use of the property, with no separate city permit named for that setting; on public property, vending is allowed only at events covered by a special event permit issued under Article III of Chapter 54.

m. Sunday through Saturday, and compliance with the city's loud-and-unnecessary-noise standard in Section 50-72, capping equipment noise at the level the mobile vendor's own equipment produces. Seasonal fresh-produce sales and direct sellers licensed under Chapter 14, Article II are exempt from the whole article. The former mobile business article, adopted in 2014, was repealed and replaced with this version by Ordinance No. 493 in April 2022, so the current text reflects that 2022 rewrite rather than the 2004 base code.
